Professional musician-turned-aspiring neurologist takes Home G. Milton Shy Award

Neurology TodayTrenley Anderson, a rising fourth-year medical student, looked into why people tend to feel uncomfortable around those who are different from them, which turned into an award-winning essay. An experience during a third-year rotation planted the seed for Anderson’s essay. During morning rounds, Anderson said, the attending physician “made an insensitive comment about a patient” who “had a nonbinary gender identity and was suspected to have a functional neurologic issue.”
