Susan Hatters-Friedman, associate professor of psychiatry at the School of Medicine, shared her opinions on the role forensic psychiatrists played in the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard trial. She wrote the article, titled “In Depp v. Heard, forensic psychiatry took the stand. Let’s correct the record,” alongside two other psychiatrists. It appeared in STAT.
In the case, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation.
“This live-streamed case has blurred lines between entertainment and the courtroom,” Hatters-Friedman wrote. “It has also drawn attention to forensic psychiatry.”
