Consumer Reports: Though many doctors use the drug propofol during colonoscopies to cause deep sedation in patients, findings show it could be risky. “For the general population there’s not a lot of good data saying patients have a better outcome with propofol when there’s not a medical indication,” said Gregory Cooper, professor of medicine. “It’s overkill.”
