Asthma: Cleveland doctor, federal officials lobby for home visits, repairs to help children
The Plain Dealer: An estimated 44,000 homes in Cleveland rated below “fair condition” could play a factor in the nearly 15,000 asthmatic children and teens living in the city, said Dorr Dearborn, chair of the Department of Environmental Health at the School of Medicine. Dearborn recently led a study that found hospitalizations of asthmatic children decreased dramatically after an environmental assessment and remediation of problems in homes. “We can’t walk away from these people,” he said.
