Med School’s Mark Cameron discusses what it will take to create COVID-19 vaccine

A new vaccine protects mice from another dangerous coronavirus

Popular Science: Mark Cameron, an associate professor of population and quantitative health sciences, discussed the process of creating a vaccine for COVID-19 that is ready for public distribution; he and researchers are currently investigating how people’s immune systems react to COVID-19 and comparing it to that caused by SARS—hoping to determine what makes certain people more vulnerable to severe forms of COVID-19: “An effective vaccine for one person may be different from an effective vaccine in somebody else. … There may be a one-two punch in terms of the vaccines that need to be delivered on the market to fully vaccinate the population.”
