Mather Prize honorees from each school announced; reception to be held Oct. 12

The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women announced this year’s recipients of the Mather Spotlight Prize, each chosen by her school for excellence in scholarship and research. The prizes will be awarded at the center’s annual Women of Achievement luncheon on Friday, Oct. 12, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Thwing Center ballroom.

The prizes include a certificate and a monetary award, made possible by the Mather Centennial Endowment Fund from the Flora Stone Mather Alumnae Association.

During the Oct. 12 event, employees of the center also will recognize university women faculty who have received tenure and promotion this past year and two special Notable Women of the Year.

This year’s Mather Prize honorees are:

  • Alexis R. Abramson, Case School of Engineering
  • Jill Barnholtz-Sloan, School of Medicine
  • Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing
  • Lisa A. Lang, School of Dental Medicine
  • Marie Lathers, College of Arts and Sciences
  • Anna Santiago, Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences
  • Yi-Jing Wu, Weatherhead School of Management
  • Ruqaiijah A. Yearby, School of Law

Celebrated as Notable Women of the Year will be:

  • Sarah Taylor, founder and chair, CWRU Faculty Newcomers Committee
  • Edith Lerner, professor emerita, Department of Nutrition, School of Medicine

Everyone is invited to attend this event and learn more about top women scholars from around the university. The luncheon is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost.
