Mathematics’ Peter Thomas discovers potential link between elevated levels of hemoglobin in the bloodstream and the body’s response to COVID-19 infection

Breakthrough on body’s adaptation to COVID-19

Medical Laboratory ObserverPeter Thomas, professor of mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, found a potential link between elevated levels of hemoglobin in the bloodstream and the body’s response to COVID-19 infection by leveraging a mathematical model of breathing dynamics, developed in collaboration with researchers at Loma Linda University.
