Graduating students of Case Western Reserve University are encouraged to mark their calendars for important dates leading up to commencement, which will be Sunday, May 19.
At all events, representatives from the university bookstore and the commencement office will be available to assist students with academic regalia measurements, commencement registration and related questions.

Apply to graduate in SIS
All students are required to apply to graduate. Students can do this by completing the graduation application in the Student Information System (SIS). Deadlines vary by school. Individuals can contact their school’s registrar with questions.
Sign up for commencement
All graduating students must sign up online to indicate whether they plan to attend the commencement ceremonies. This is an online form—separate from the SIS application for graduation. Commencement registration for all graduates is open from March 1 to April 1.
Graduating students can sign up online beginning March 1 at case.edu/commencement, or do so in person at one of the commencement events listed below.
Doctoral Fittings
Doctoral Fitting events are open to all professional and doctoral students (MD, DMD, DMA, PhD, DNP, DM, JD, and SJD graduates). At the Doctoral Fittings, professional and doctoral degree candidates can register to participate in commencement ceremonies and have their regalia measurements taken.
The Doctoral Fittings will be held:
- Wednesday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the School of Law, Gund Hall, Student Lounge (upper level); and
- Friday, March 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tinkham Veale University Center, Smith Commons (main floor).
Grad Fair
Any student participating in commencement can visit Grad Fair to take care of their graduation planning and celebration needs, purchase their cap and gown, and sign up to participate in commencement ceremonies. All students earning bachelor’s or master’s degrees are encouraged to purchase their cap and gown during Grad Fair.
The Grad Fair will be held Wednesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the upper level of the university bookstore.
