cleveland.com: Daniel Flannery, the Dr. Semi J. and Ruth Begun Professor and director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, discussed the factors in the surge in youth firearm offenses, noting that juvenile gun charges quadrupled in the past 20 years. “More firearms mean they’re going to be used more often,” he said, also noting trauma, safety fears and easy gun access as key drivers behind the increase.
