M.C. “Terry” Hokenstad, Distinguished University Professor, Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt Professor and professor of global health, recently traveled to China to present and consult.
Hokenstad was a plenary presenter in Hong Kong at a conference on The Third Sector and Public Governance in Greater China, where he discussed philanthropy and its role in building the non-governmental sector of society. He was one of two American professors invited to speak; others involved were Chinese academics, funders and non-profit executives.
In addition, he spent time in Beijing, where he provided consultation and technical assistance for the development of a graduate professional program at Beijing Normal University. Hokenstad intends to continue this work in the future, as a number of Chinese universities are engaged in similar program development.
