Stuff: Mark Joseph, the Leona Bevis/Marguerite Haynam Professor in Community Development at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, said successful mixed-use housing projects are marked by “aspiration, connection and creativity, rather than fear, isolation and compliance.” The key factors, he said, are the clarity of the vision and outcomes for the housing, and how much that vision is shared by all stakeholders, including residents.
