Mandel School’s Alexandra Curley collaborates on report finding bias in inclusionary housing

Alexandra Curley, a research assistant professor in the National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, collaborated with colleagues on a report titled “Low-Income Residents of Inclusionary Housing Report Facing More Bias.”

Curley worked with:

  • Judith Gonyea, professor at Boston University;
  • Colette Ngana, a PhD student in the Department of Sociology, and 
  • Alyssa Nickell, a senior research associate with the National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities. 

Published by Shelterforce, the report detailed key findings and recommendations from their research on bias and inclusion based on a survey of Cambridge, Massachusetts, residents They found residents of affordable units in inclusionary housing properties reported frequently experiencing bias, especially from property management.
