Mandel School South Africa Spring (May Abroad) Information Session

Join the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences’ International Education Programs to learn about the school’s three-credit study abroad course to South Africa in May 2020. The session will be held Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. in the Mandel School, Room 236.

This course, which connects students with social workers and NGOs in South Africa, encourages students to broaden their perspective to address social issues and problems regardless of location and nation. In addition to time in Cape Town, students will spend three days in the Groot Winterhoek Nature Reserve.

About the Mandel School’s study abroad opportunities

The Mandel School will offer seven short-term, faculty-led, three-credit study abroad courses this year. These study abroad courses are open to undergraduate and graduate students at Case Western Reserve University of any major. These international opportunities are designed to enable students to see comparative social service systems and gain new insights into the needs of people in the U.S. and abroad. The courses promote student interaction with communities, international policy makers and direct-service providers.

Course topics include social welfare, social justice, health care, global health, mental health, substance abuse, macro social and economic issues.
