Mandel School honors staff with MSASSy awards

At the end of every summer, Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences staff members hold an annual luncheon and honor fellow staff members with MSASSy Awards for their hard work and dedication to the school. This year, awards went to:

  • Valerie Beard, receptionist
  • Michael Brown, department assistant, Student Services
  • Misty Funk, director of Annual Giving and Special Gifts
  • April Hirsch, research assistant, Center on Urban Poverty & Community Development
  • Jessie Rudolph, secretary, Center on Urban Poverty & Community Development
  • Edna Wade, department assistant, Student Services

In addition, MSASS also honored a special staff member who demonstrates initiative and dedication on the job. This year, the B. Lenora Benson Award was presented to Dorothy H. Maroff, assistant to the director at the Lillian F. & Milford J. Harris Library.

“For over 40 years, Dorothy Maroff has committed her time, effort, mind and heart to Case Western Reserve University,” wrote one nominator. “In the 34 years that Dorothy has worked at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, she has proven herself to be an invaluable resource to MSASS, and a critical cornerstone of the Harris Library staff.”
