Malaria’s ability to share genetic variations determined
Vaccine News Daily: Researchers have sequenced the genomes of five strains of Plasmodium vivax malaria and found they share the same genetic variations, even when geographically separated. “The parasite’s life cycle enables P. vivax to be a microbial globe-trotter,” says Peter Zimmerman, professor of international health, genetics and biology. The discovery sheds light on disease traits like drug resistance.
