Hatsuo “Ken” Ishida, professor of macromolecular science and engineering, was elected to the 2015 class of fellows of the Polymeric Materials Science and Engineering (PMSE) Division of the American Chemical Society.
Ishida was recognized for more than three decades of breakthrough contributions to the field of polymeric materials, including seminal work in composite interfaces, in polymer spectroscopy and in the development of polybenzoxazine resins.
The body of literature that Ishida has generated, as well as his contributions to the American Chemical Society in both presenting his work and creating and chairing research symposia, were also cited as playing important roles in bestowing this award.
The PMSE Fellow Program was started in 2000 to honor PMSE members for scientific and technological contributions to polymer material science and engineering. To date, 85 fellows have been inducted, with four new members for 2015.
Ishida will accept the award during the annual meeting of the ACS in Denver this month.
