Lunchtime Ethics Table discussions to start Jan. 30

The Ethics Table brown bag lunches will begin Wednesday, Jan. 3. This brown bag lunch series is a forum to casually discuss a broad range of ethical questions, especially those relevant (but not limited) to the Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland communities.

Meeting every Wednesday from Jan. 30 to April 17 (except spring break), lunches will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., usually in the Spartan Room of Thwing Center.
The opening topic for the series on Jan. 30 takes its inspiration from CWRU’s next strategic planning phase, CWRU 2026, in preparation for the university’s bicentennial. The question on the table will be: “What areas of ethical formation will be most needed in the early part of the 21st century for people entering the world beyond university?” Topics can be related to undergraduate, graduate or professional education.

Anyone in the university community—students, staff, faculty, alumni or friends—is welcome. Students especially are encouraged to attend.

Individuals should bring their own lunch; coffee and cookies will be served.

Ideas for a weekly topic or program can be submitted to Jeremy Bendik-Keymer, the Beamer-Schneider Professor in Ethics, at bendik-keymer@case.edu, or to the discussion list at ethicstable@case.edu. Further information can be found at case.edu/artsci/phil/ethicstable.html.
