Lunar New Year is the most important social and economic holiday for billions of people around the world. It’s tied to the lunar-solar Chinese calendar and was originally observed as a time to honor household and heavenly deities and ancestors. Today, it’s a special time to bring friends and family together for feasting and festivities in China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and beyond.

While the global pandemic has prevented CWRU from hosting its usual Lunar New Year gathering, the center hopes to bring some holiday spirit to campus to celebrate the year of the ox while allowing for safety and social-distancing.

It has compiled videos and information about Lunar New Year traditions and celebrations around the world that everyone can enjoy, whether on-campus or off. View the videos and information.
