“Lives in the Margins: Neither Militia Mothers nor Normalized Lesbians—The Constant Act of Queering the Cuban Revolution”

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will host Mabel Cuesta, an associate professor at the University of Houston, for a talk titled “Lives in the Margins: Neither Militia Mothers nor Normalized Lesbians—The Constant Act of Queering the Cuban Revolution.”

Cuesta’s presentation will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Clark Hall, Room 206.

The talk will address how, in trying to approach the Cuban LGBTQ community, neither the movement of Cuban Women nor CENESEX have managed to make their projects independent from the greater one: the Cuban Revolution.
