“Listening in Noise: Differences between Children and Adults”

Understanding speech in a noisy environment requires practice, and it can take years for children to hone their ability and train their auditory system. In her lecture “Listening in Noise: Differences between Children and Adults,” Lauren Calandruccio, associate professor of auditory perception, will discuss auditory perception in noisy environments, like the classroom. She will talk about her experiments on how children perceive speech and the surprise turn her award-winning research took.

The event will take place virtually Tuesday, Feb. 22, from noon to 1 p.m. (EST). Access the Zoom link online.

This lecture, co-sponsored by the Schubert Center for Child Studies and Master of Public Health program, is part of the “Topics in Social Justice and Public Health” lecture series.
