Understanding speech in a noisy environment requires practice, and it can take years for children to hone their ability and train their auditory system. In her lecture “Listening in Noise: Differences between Children and Adults,” Lauren Calandruccio, associate professor of auditory perception, will discuss auditory perception in noisy environments, like the classroom. She will talk about her experiments on how children perceive speech and the surprise turn her award-winning research took.
