Learn more about the 2021 open enrollment dependent verification requirements

Employees planning to add dependents to their benefits for the 2021 calendar year who are not covered under the employee’s 2020 benefits plan, must provide appropriate dependent verification to Benefits Administration prior to making their elections during open enrollment this November. Providing dependent verification prompts Benefits Administration to add your dependents to HCM, allowing you to add those dependents when using the open enrollment system. You will be unable to add new dependents to your benefits until you submit the required dependent verification.

A list of acceptable dependent verification documents can be found by accessing dependent verification document requirements. Documents should be submitted to the HR Service Center via Box: Ask HR Box. If the documentation does not include both the dependent’s date of birth and social security number, that information must also be provided. Please note, documentation containing social security numbers or other sensitive data should never be sent via email or fax.

For questions on submitting documents, contact the HR Service Center via email at AskHR@case.edu or at 216-368-6964.

Please note that dependents already included in your 2020 benefits are already listed in HCM and will be available when you use the open enrollment system in November. No additional dependent verification is needed.

As a reminder, Benelect open enrollment for 2021 is set to begin Monday, Nov. 9, and run through Monday, Nov. 30. During open enrollment, the Virtual Benefits & Wellness Fair will be held from Monday, Nov. 9, to Friday, Nov. 20.

Medical Mutual (MMO) will be the university’s sole insurance plan administrator for the 2021 calendar year. To assist faculty and staff who will be newly enrolling in Medical Mutual for 2021, MMO has set up a dedicated website for CWRU employees. In addition, a dedicated customer service number (877.480.3110) is available to assist employees who will be new to Medical Mutual. Given this is a significant change for those currently with Anthem, the university and Medical Mutual will host open information sessions later this month and throughout open enrollment. Registration information will be available in The Daily and on the Human Resources website. For questions, email AskHR@case.edu or call the HR Service Center at 216.368.6964.
