The Public Affairs Discussion Group will host Peter J. Haas, the Abba Hillel Silver Professor of Jewish Studies and chair of the Department of Religious Studies, at its upcoming meeting for a discussion on the recent election in Israel. The discussion will take place Friday, March 20, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Dampeer Room of Kelvin Smith Library.
Following this week’s Israeli election, there will be a selection of who will try to assemble a government and collection of some combination of parties into a 61-seat ruling coalition.
Haas will report on the post-election negotiations, what messages Israeli voters seemed to be sending, and whether any possible government could agree on a program of policies.
Since 1989, faculty, emeriti, students and staff have gathered on Fridays for a brown-bag lunch and to discuss topics in public affairs.
