Find out more about flipped classrooms at UCITE session tomorrow

Many factors go into creating a successful flipped classroom, including the creation and curation of materials and activities for students to engage with outside of class. Many students may not necessarily be prepared to best take advantage of these new ways of teaching and may need to be persuaded of their value.

During the next University Center for Innovation in Technology and Education (UCITE) session, Rebecca Benard, instructor of biology; Genevieve Sauve, assistant professor of chemistry; student Diana Christian; and ITS Academic Technology staff Katie Skapin and Mike Kenney will discuss the ways in which faculty can better help students prepare for flipped classroom environments.

Topics to be discussed include video creation and effective usage of Blackboard and how to get students involved in creating and curating course materials.

The discussion will be Thursday, Feb. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room, on the ground floor of the Allen building (at the corner of Adelbert Road and Euclid Avenue).

Pizza, sodas and water will be provided at the session.
