The Wall Street Journal (subscription required): Ted Steinberg, the Adeline Barry Davee Distinguished Professor of History and professor of law, discussed Americans’ obsession with curating the perfect lawn, which got its start adorning every cookie-cutter suburban subdivision built in the middle of the 20th century, spreading across the country until emerald expanses of turf grass had transformed “vast swaths of the U.S. into the outdoor equivalent of living-room carpet.”
