Law’s Sharona Hoffman clarifies small businesses’ right to reinstate mask requirements

As COVID rise continues, some Columbus-area businesses ask customers to mask up again

Columbus Dispatch: Sharona Hoffman, the Edgar A. Hahn Professor of Law and co-director of the Law-Medicine Center, scoffed at the argument that mask policies are an infringement on personal liberties and constitutional rights. “Small businesses can have all sorts of rules,” she said. “They can say ‘no shoes, no shirt, no service,’ they can say ‘no smoking.’ As long as they are not discriminating against people, they can have requirements.”
