Former GOP leader Matt Borges asks for 1-year sentence as feds seek 5-8 years
WEWS: Michael Benza, professor of law, discussed the discrepancy in sentencing requests for the state’s former GOP leader Matt Borges for his role in the FirstEnergy bribery case. The government is requesting a sentence of five to eight years, while Borges is asking for a more lenient one-year sentence. “The issue for the government is, who do you have leverage with and is that person is open to helping the government in order to receive a benefit for themselves?” Benza said.
