U.S. News: Juscelino Colares, the Schott-van den Eynden Professor of Law, said that Russia’s crackdown on protests surrounding the Ukrainian invasion could lead to sanctions from the European Court of Human Rights. Its governing document, the European Convention on Human Rights, which Russia is still party to, has specific provisions protecting freedom of assembly and prohibiting unjust arrests, he said.
