The Plain Dealer: Fifty years ago, the Gideon v. Wainwright decision determined that any person who cannot afford an attorney will be provided one. “Sometimes to defend a case requires a whole lot of leg work,” said law professor Jonathan Entin, who noted that assigned lawyers often don’t have the resources to do the job.
