Law’s Jonathan Entin says Amish group convicted in hate crime trial could appeal

Amish group convicted in hate crime trial for beard-cutting attack

ideastream: Sixteen members of an Amish church group were convicted of conspiracy to commit hate crimes against other Amish by cutting off their beards and hair, but the defense has indicated it plans to appeal the convictions. School of Law Professor Jonathan Entin said they might have a chance: “The defendants upon appeal are likely to say that this case should have never gone to the jury because the statute doesn’t cover this kind of intra-group dispute.”
