Law’s Jonathan Entin comments on Haitian Bridge Alliance’s decision to seek criminal charges against former President Donald Trump

Haitian nonprofit leader uses Ohio law to pursue criminal charges against Trump, Vance false Springfield remarks
cleveland.comJonathan Entin, the David L. Brennan Professor Emeritus of Law, weighed in on a legal request filed by the Haitian Bridge Alliance seeking criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and U.S. Senator JD Vance. The charges stem from unsubstantiated claims made by Trump and Vance about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, which caused significant public unrest, including bomb threats. Entin called the case “weak” because the First Amendment generally protects political speech, even if false, and it’s difficult to link Trump and Vance directly to the bomb threats.
