The Supreme Court’s conservative majority curtailed the SEC’s ability to impose fines

NPRJonathan Adler, the Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law, noted that a recent Supreme Court decision on agency power made an exception for organizations that handle federal funds. “The court doesn’t touch Congress’ ability to allow agency adjudication for public benefits and pensions and patents and things like that,” he said.
