Law’s Jonathan Adler examines the anger around national anthem protests

Jonathan Adler, the Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law and director of the Center for Business Law and Regulation, recently authored a piece, titled “Why political protests during the national anthem are so offensive to so many,” for The Washington Post.

Reflecting on a similarly controversial incident in the 1980s at Yale University, Adler analyzes the reason that protesters’ intentions can be misconstrued and argues for a civil, civic conversation.
