Law’s Becca Kendis notes irony of laws designed to ban Obamacare now being used to protect abortion rights

Column—Ironic justice: Laws passed to gut Obamacare are now being used to protect abortion rights
Los Angeles TimesBecca Kendis, reproductive rights fellow at the School of Law, noted the irony of laws designed to ban Obamacare now being used to protect abortion rights. “The U.S. Supreme Court’s interpretation of rights under the U.S. Constitution acts as a floor, not a ceiling,” she said. “There are certain provisions for religious freedom, due process, explicit language mentioning privacy,” she noted. Every state constitution is unique, “warranting a push to look to our state constitutions as a source of strong individual protections.”
