Did your Spirit flight get canceled? Request an ‘involuntary refund’ now
WKYC: Andrew Pollis, professor of law, weighed in on the chaotic travel headache of Spirit Airlines as the budget airline canceled more than 400 flights in one day. “Every time you buy a ticket to fly, you don’t necessarily realize it, but you are subscribing to what the airline calls its ‘Contract of Carriage,’ which means airlines are only legally obligated to carry you from one destination to the next, even if problems arise,” he said. “They are only legally obligated to refund money or offer new flights. They are not legally obligated to pay for a passenger’s hotel, a new flight on a different airline, or any other accommodations, if something goes wrong.”
