$600M settlement for East Palestine residents announced
WOIO: Andrew Pollis, professor of law, discussed the $600 million class action lawsuit settlement for the people who live in East Palestine, the site of the February 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment. Pollis noted that the agreement was negotiated, but will still need court approval, to pay the people impacted by the toxic spill and subsequent burn off of chemicals. “It does have to be court-approved,” he said.
