Man cut off at Cleveland City Council’s microphone files First Amendment lawsuit against council, President Blaine Griffin
cleveland.com: Andrew Geronimo, director of the First Amendment Clinic at the School of Law, discussed a federal lawsuit filed by the law school’s clinic against the City of Cleveland for possible violation of a man’s First Amendment rights during a recent city council meeting. “Government officials cannot silence speech simply because it criticizes them or offends their sensibilities, and Council’s lack of meaningful action on this matter unfortunately made it necessary for Mr. Martin to proceed with a lawsuit to vindicate and enforce his First Amendment rights,” Geronimo said.
