La Alianza Virtual Conference 2020

La Alianza, the Latinx/Hispanic organization at Case Western Reserve University, will hold its first conference event during Hispanic Heritage Month Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4. The conference will begin at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3 and continue throughout the day on Oct. 4.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, academic and professional opportunities that La Alianza have previously offered to its members may be canceled this academic year. However, La Alianza wants to continue providing members academic and professional opportunities that may have been affected by the pandemic.

La Alianza Conference, which will be held virtually, serves as a platform to provide La Alianza members, CWRU students, and community partners with opportunities to develop academically and professionally as well as to learn more about Latinx/Hispanic culture. This conference has the main goal of providing resources for students—at any stage of their undergraduate career—they may need for their academic and professional success, as well as cultural awareness. This goal will be fulfilled through workshops about research and internship opportunities, resume building, identity and more.

The La Alianza Executive Board wants to invite the CWRU community to attend the conference, as there are many benefits and outcomes. The conference is free of charge for anyone to attend and will be offered as an optional North Star Experience for attendees. This is a limited opportunity (maximum capacity is 150) for students to receive certificates and badges for attending a select number of conference sessions. Credentials will be issued officially by the CWRU Office of the Provost.

For more information regarding the North Star Experience, the La Alianza Conference, the conference schedule, and to register, visit the La Alianza Conference 2020 webpage.
