Kelvin Smith Library will be open 24 hours a day/seven days a week during the final exam period from Sunday, Dec. 11, to the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 21, for those with Case Western Reserve University IDs. The 24/7 access will require library patrons to move to the first floor at midnight.
“During finals, the high demand for study space merits an extension of our overnight access,” said Jose O. Diaz, associate university librarian for access, research and engagement services.
Kelvin Smith Library opened with new hours this fall, featuring 24-hour access, five days a week.
“The pandemic interrupted our 24/7 schedule, but Kelvin Smith Library remained aware that our facility is a suitable place for quiet work or late-night studying,” said Diaz, who said they listen to student feedback and assess building usage statistics to determine a library schedule that is fiscally and operationally sustainable.
The library will move to winter break hours beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
