Kelvin Smith Library alters public access hours, effective Nov. 30

As part of its ongoing efforts to provide a safe and supportive environment to the Case Western Reserve University community, Kelvin Smith Library will alter its schedule for general public access.

Effective Monday, Nov. 30, regular access hours of operation for the general public and non-CWRU-affiliated users only, will be:

  • Sunday: noon to 8 p.m.
  • Monday–Friday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Community user hours vary during holiday periods, university breaks and the summer. At the noted times, Kelvin Smith Library doors will lock and visitors may return on the next business day.

CWRU faculty, students and staff, as well as Cleveland Institute of Music and Cleveland Institute of Music students, can gain access to Kelvin Smith Library outside these hours by swiping their CWRU ID cards at the door and again upon entering the building at the Welcome Desk. Valid CWRU IDs and authorized CIM and CIA cards will be the only acceptable form of identification. Other forms of ID will not be accepted at times when Kelvin Smith Library’s doors are secured.
