Join University Circle partners at Oct. 31 Circle Neighbors event, focused on urban farming

Connect with your neighbors in University Circle at the upcoming Circle Neighbors meeting, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 31. During the meeting, which begins at 11 a.m. in the Cleveland Museum of Art Recital Hall, participants will explore the topic of “Growing the City: Urban Gardens and Neighborhood-based Cooperatives.”

Attendees will discuss how the urban farming movement got started in Cleveland, how it has been fueled by the foreclosure crisis and how planners hope to nurture the movement’s growth in northeast Ohio.

Natalie Ronayne, executive director of Cleveland Botanical Garden, will give the introduction and Mike McIntyre, host of WCPN’s The Sound of Ideas and a Plain Dealer columnist, will moderate the event. Panelists will include Councilman Joe Cimperman; Joel Ratner, president and CEO of Neighborhood Progress Inc.; and Jesus Sanchez, Green Corps Youth Manager at Cleveland Botanical Garden.
