Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to two free upcoming film screenings on campus.
First, there will be a screening of La Porta Dell‘Inferno (The Door to Hell) by Michael Cavalieri Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in Strosacker Auditorium.
This documentary chronicles the experiences of workers in the sulfur mines of central Sicily. Filmmaker Cavalieri will join attendees via Zoom to hold Q&A afterward. This screening will be hosted by the Italian Program in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the Italian American Professional Business Club, and the CWRU Film Society.
Then, the Cleveland premiere of Pluto (2023) in English will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m. in Strosacker Auditorium.
Pluto, by award-winning Italian filmmaker Renzo Carbonera, brings the concern about nuclear weapons to the forefront through its fictional story based on history and current events. Carbonera will host an in-person Q&A session following the screening.
Carbonera’s films and documentaries are distributed worldwide and focus on the pressing issues and dilemmas of our time.
This screening will be hosted by the Italian Program in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the Department of History and the CWRU Film Society.
Both screenings are free and open to all.
