Does your dog really love you, or does she just want a treat? Carl Safina, marine ecologist and author of Beyond Words: What Animals Think and Feel, will discuss how animal thought and emotion can be considered by looking at the brain, evolution, and the context of behaviors—something long thought to be beyond reach of inquiry.
Safina’s talk, which is the 2016 Issa Lecture, will be held Oct. 4 from 5 to 6 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center Ballroom C.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is recommended. To RSVP, visit humanities.case.edu/events/safina/.
