The Social Justice Institute will co-sponsor “An Introduction and Dialogue of the A People’s Platform for Injustice and Peace 2016 Platform” Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Ford Auditorium.
Adopted during the People’s Justice and Peace Convention in July, the PJPC platform is a legacy of efforts to transform the world nonviolently to end oppression. The platform includes policy planks for five justice-themed areas: economic, political, racial/social, environmental and international. It also includes five core practices: radical amazement, radical hospitality, good stewardship to create a shared abundance, compassion for every sentient being and eco-system, and truth, reparations and reconciliation.
The event is free and open to the community; young voters are especially encouraged to attend. Reservations are requested to email@example.com or 216.368.7568.
Additional organizers include Ashtabula County Farmers’ Union, Black-on-Black Crime, CAIR-Cleveland, The Carl Stokes Brigade, Cleveland Environmental Action Network, Cleveland Nonviolence Network, Cleveland Peace Action, Greater Cleveland Human & Civil Rights Coalition, InterReligious Task Force on Central America, NEOhio American Friends Service Committee, Northeast Ohio Industrial Workers of the World, Organize Ohio, Peace in the Hood, Sierra Club, SpanOhio, Stop Targeting Ohio’s Poor, and Women Speak Out for Peace and Justice.
