Case Western Reserve University students can get involved in media coverage of the Republican National Convention with ABC News and The Daily Show.
ABC News
ABC Network News is hiring interns for the 2016 Republican National Convention. The duration will be from July 13 through July 22. There will be multiple shifts from 8 a.m. until midnight daily.
Responsibilities will include reporting to executives, senior producers, correspondents and engineers with daily production assignments for all ABC News broadcasts—Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, Nightline, This Week with George Stephanopoulos and ABC News primetime coverage every night of the convention.
Interns also would be expected to help the producers of ABC News Digital’s extensive coverage of both of the convention and behind the scenes in Cleveland.
Those who are interested and are selected will be paid $15 an hour. Those hired will also need to follow ABC News social media guidelines.
Students should submit a resume and cover letter that includes their contact information to Drew Millhon, senior producer at ABC News, at drew.c.millhon@abc.com.
Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the location.
The Daily Show
In addition, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah will broadcast from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland during the RNC Convention this summer and is looking to hire local production assistants (PAs) to work from July 12-23.
Approximately 20 students from nearby colleges (ideally students with a media-based focus) will be hired to work a variety of shifts from early morning to late night. These PAs will be responsible for locating props, driving shuttles, assisting in the set up of the production office, helping on shoots, arranging craft services, and much more.
Interested applicants may send their resume to rnc2016@thedailyshow.com with the subject line “PRODUCTION ASSISTANT.” Interviews will be conducted at St. Ignatius School May 13.
