Information Technology Services to update email security; update settings now

On July 18, Information Technology Services will update email security settings for members of the Case Western Reserve University community. Users who access their Case Western Reserve University email via a client on their computer, such as Outlook, Thunderbird and Mac OS X Mail, or from a mobile device, should check their outbound mail server settings to ensure they are set to smtp.cwru.edu with encryption enabled.

ITS will update the encryption settings on the outgoing email server (smtp.cwru.edu) to further protect the identities of CWRU email users. Email clients that are not set to use this specific server will be unable to send email.

Individuals who use webmail.case.edu will not be affected.

For directions on how to locate and update your email client’s encryption settings, go to the CWRU Email training page on help.case.edu.
