Information Security Office warns of phishing attempt

University Technology’s ([U]Tech) Information Security Office wants to alert Case Western Reserve University community members of a scam email that was received by members of the university community Friday, Feb. 1.

This phishing attempt purports to be from the [U]Tech Service Desk, and mimics the format of technology request tickets and related messaging used by [U]Tech. It states a previously submitted request to shut down the recipient’s CWRU account will soon be resolved, and gives a link to cancel the request if the action is not desired.

Do not respond to this email and do not click the link. Doing so can lead to compromised security, theft and a higher chance of being targeted for similar incidents in the future.

If you did see the email and click the link, reset your password immediately.

For any other questions, contact the [U]Tech Service Desk at help@case.edu or 216.368.HELP (4357), or visit help.case.edu.
