An information meeting will be held Jan. 24 for those interested in becoming part of Case Western Reserve University’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). During the meeting, which will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in Adelbert Hall’s Toepfer Room, participants will learn the goals of CERT and also meet other interested volunteers. Lunch will be provided; RSVP by Jan. 20 to Jason Goodrick, jrg153@case.edu.
CERT will prepare employees to help themselves and each other—and to supplement the work of first responders—in the event of a campus crisis. Up to 50 faculty and staff volunteers will learn fundamental disaster response skills in order to assist with immediate needs during emergencies.
Volunteers take an online course, earn a certificate, sign a waiver and participate in 20 hours of hands-on training taught by emergency professionals.
