The Department of Campus Planning & Facilities Management would like to inform the campus community about improvements coming to the Mather Quad over the summer. Much of the work begins today (May 16), and the department anticipates projects will be complete before the start of the 2016–17 school year in August.
With four projects happening in a small space in the coming months, there will be some disruptions, including:
- closed sidewalks between Mather House, Mather Dance and Tinkham Veale University Center, as well as in front of Guilford House;
- periodically closed sidewalks and entrances to Haydn and Clark halls;
- parking at Church of the Covenant will be affected; and
- dust, noise and equipment in and around all the Quad areas.
While these projects may cause disruptions, the university community can look forward to major improvements to the Mather Quad, such as:
- Mather Dance: Water proofing at the northwest corner
- Haydn Hall: Exterior masonry restoration to repair masonry joints, replace cracked and broken limestone, and clean and seal the entire building
- Guilford House: Renovations to the front porch, parlor, dining room and corridors
- Clark Hall: Repairing and restoring masonry (has been under construction for the previous year and will continue into the Fall).
