Interactive Commons Fellows: HoloLens Showcase 2022

Case Western Reserve University’s Interactive Commons (IC) invites all members of the campus community to the inaugural IC Fellows Cohort HoloLens Showcase Tuesday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom C.

This open house-style event will start with brief opening remarks by Provost Ben Vinson, followed by HoloLens demonstrations. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the newest HoloLens classroom applications developed by the Interactive Commons and the first IC fellows cohort, peek inside molecular structures, walk through an ancient Greek sanctuary, travel to Mercury, play with a wiggling polymer, and more.

The IC Fellows Cohort started in fall 2021 with support from the Office of the Provost in an effort to expand access to mixed-reality educational programming across the university campus. The instructors in the IC fellows cohort have become fluent in the application and best practices of mixed reality as a teaching tool while working with the IC team to design, build, and execute customized HoloLens apps for their courses.

The eight members of the IC fellows cohort come from far ranging fields at CWRU, including materials science and engineering; macromolecular science and engineering; physics; earth, environmental and planetary sciences; art history and art; and physiology and biophysics.

A second IC fellows cohort will be admitted this fall. All faculty members are encouraged to apply (application information and submission deadlines to be determined).
