Humanities professor Ellen Landau presents in Australia on abstract expressionism

Ellen Landau, the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of the Humanities, is in Australia taking part in a symposium on abstract expressionism at the National Gallery of Australia. Landau is one of four U.S. scholars invited to participate.

Titled “Action. Painting. Now.” the symposium looks at the impact of artists such as Jackson Pollock, Morris Louis and others. The event is presented in association with the United States Studies Center, University of Sydney, and supported by the Terra Foundation for American Art.

The Australian recently published a feature article on the event, which is available for viewing online (free registration required).
